Marathon week-end: check!
So last week-end was indeed a tough one.
We took the train at 7am, arrived at Rennes at 10am. We rented a car at Budget (after trying all the rental services – some of them would charge us 45 euros for a child seat!!!) and headed toward our future home country (or so we hope).
We managed to visit 6 houses (among them was the one we really intend to buy) which is one of our best scores. As we were heading back towards Rennes and almost arrived, Noa threw up everything she had eaten since breakfast in our brand new rental car. Of course we had nothing to wipe, clean or even isolate the spoiled clothes. Of courses the child seat was ruined. Of course there was vomit everywhere at the back of the car. Of course we missed the last train back to Paris. Of course the ticket booth was closed and the machines refused to exchange the tickets.
We ended up booking a room in the hotel across the railway station, no toothbrush, no clothes, no nothing. While David went hunting food, I gave Noa a nice hot shower and then washed away the vomit from her clothes in the tiny hotel sink with a tiny hotel soap. As soon as my head hit the pillow I fell deeply asleep.
In the morning, we got the first train back to the capital after a lot of questioning and a lot of bargaining at the ticket booth.
Good points:
– the house we aim at is not sold yet
– we avoided the dry cleaning of our Real Estate agent (who was in the car with us when the “incident” happened)
Bad points:
– we were charged an extra 45 euros for cleaning the car (plus some gas filling – we were so tired that we forgot to fill the car before taking it back)
– we spent 75 euros for an improvised hotel night
– we were charged an extra 15 euros to be able to exchange the tickets
– at this pace, we might not be able to buy the house anyway
Aaaand we’re going back there on saturday :)

2 questions:
– How did you manage not to kill anyone with such bad luck?!
– Did the real estate agent come out of the car with a new “Kenzo style” suit or did he still have his sad-looking black one?
Hey Heidi! Nice to read your comment!
Answer #1: we almost killed the real-estate agent :)
Answer #2: the suit was untouched, but not the little briefcase… but he only discovered it a couple of weeks after the “incident” :)
